Hope the link to the photos is working. Somebody tell me if its not working please.
Think my body is malfunctioning. I fell asleep from 5 to 11pm yesterday, and then i slept again at 4am till 12pm this afternoon. i mean, am i that tired? what the hell is wrong with me? How ironic this whole trip is. Technically, i'm supposed to have fun, because i just need the passing mark for everything i take. But then, the people here are alright, and i mean alright, not wacko-damn-fun-let's-go, but just alright? i guess it just boils down to chemistry, and i think i don't have that much chemistry with the locals here. not that i hate these people, its just not clicking. ever noticed why i have so few photos of them?.... therefore, while i'm in cambridge town, i tell myself its all about the work. then the thing is, i've started off the term with the wrong wrong wronggg group of people, they're driving me nuts. yes, sarah, babysitting. and right now things are so busy which is why i'm not in toronto city now. well i guess it boils down to one thing: GET OUT OF CAMBRIDGE. i hope i'm wrong...
Back from New York. I'm sad to be out of the city. But i'm happy now i'm back. Today the three Lords (read: group members) decided to take things easy and tried to work together. For once, my group is taking a collective approach to the design. Hallelujah. I thought this day'd never come. Mr Prima Donna however is still making people upset. I think i'll remain the diplomat and try to listen to their views (especially his)as much as i can. Mr Prima Donna seems to want to take the reins of every group project he gets himself into. People ask me what working with him is like. In fact, everyone does. I ask them why they all ask me the same thing. They say, well, it's a taken. You work with him that's what you get. But heck, it's not my fault, no one even knew me when i arrived in Waterloo. (Thanks NUS for your unending support) What's more, Prima Donna was the first person to approach me. (He probably pissed everyone else in the entire school off prior to my arrival) How could i not repay his kindness? Anyhow. Things are working out for the first time this semester in my group...so i think i'll announce a break from blogging while this project finally gets underway. More about New York soon!
cheers.
A Big Apple, Please.in an hour i'll be on my way to the city i've always wanted to visit. NYC! of course, i'm not really looking forward to the 12 hour bus ride on the greyhound getting there, (and back) but the rest of it is just a dream come true. forget school, forget cambridge, i'm heading for the city that never sleeps! (or allows smoking in bars)
adios, amigos..
Building TorontoIt's 3am in the morning and i'm wide awake. Maybe its because of my abnormal biological clock which switches me off at 430pm and wakes me up at 10pm. Sometimes all it takes to ruin your entire week is a madly-conceived idea to rebuild the entire Toronto waterfront in a 1:500 scale model made of too-hard-to-cut-into-small-pieces white card. Why the profs are astounded by overly large models made of pure white card escapes me. Why they need us to give a presentation about the model after 2 all nighters in a row completely evades my sense of reasoning. This is school, and somehow i love it.
but i have to admit... damn the model looks good.
The Guvernment
Although a few friends would strongly object to my saying so, the guvernment has brought something of worth to the world. Tired, lazy and full from dinner, Alex, Vince, Daniel, Brian, Qiu
and I (woot woot...perfect grammar) dragged ourselves down to one of the biggest club complexes in Toronto City,
The Guvernment, where his royal highness Dave Seaman was going to put on one helluva show. And what a set it was. Unrelenting aural pleasure. I'm sure all the club music afficionados that i know (ahem) would agree with me that this guy is one of the world's finest. And he knows how to work the crowd too! pity we didn't stay till the end; for although the grooves breathed new life into tired legs, by 430am it was time to wave goodbye to the master himself. Full credit too to resident DJ Mark Oliver, who put on a mighthy stellar display himself. What a day, what a night. Check out the lasers and the lights...
With Chewy Qiu. Pardon the resolution, took these with my trusty V3's camera. mwahaha.
The Lights! The Lights!
The distinctive bald head, Dave the Man. Good show, mate.
