Brainstorming Kampong Bugis.

Remember the place that comes right after Beach Road?
The place where (if you owned a Beach Road HDB Apartment) you could catch a glimpse of the converging Kallang and Rochor Rivers? Yes, that's right. Singapore has rivers. Better still, I didn't have an inkling of their existence till now. But we were told to dream up a storm for the area, to redevelop it as something, so the group of us thought a return to the notion of living by the water's edge would be a welcome idea. Imagine having a maisonette apartment, just a few feet from the water, which came right up to your doorstep, where you could hop onto your very own watercraft and zip off to work in the CBD, or off to your pal's place just west of you on the other side of the mini peninsula. It's a dream, but if anything, it's giving a nod to the history which kick started this mother-of-seaports. A sustainable city-within-a-city where clean transport, clear waters, lofty residences, and pristine, useable public parks would be the order of the day.

Spend weekends and evenings the eastern parks, a green expanse scattered with stadia and recreation centres forming Singapore's new Sports Hub.


Or Stroll through the central green strip where Kallang Gaswork Monuments remind us of the City of Fire that had existed before.
